March 10th: What Does It Mean To Be United Methodist?

  • We will learn about United Methodist History.
  • We will learn about key United Methodist Beliefs.

Homework For Next Session:

  • Read pages 15-16.
  • Answer questions on page 17.
  • Scan the Relationship Stages chart on page 18.
  • Answer questions on pages 20-21.

 

March 17th: A Disciple’s Path Defined (A)

  • We will talk about the homework readings on pages 15-16, 18.
  • We will share some of our answers from the homework assignment on pages 17, 20-21.
  • We will learn about God’s role in growing your faith (see charts) on pages 22-23.

Homework For Next Session:

  • Memorize the chart God’s Role on page 23.
  • Answer the questions on page 24.
  • Look up two of Scripture readings listed on the top of page 25
  • Answer questions on page 26.

 

March 24th: A Disciple’s Path Defined (B)

  • We will talk about God’s role in helping our faith grow.
  • We will talk about the role community plays helping our faith grow.
  • We will talk about ways we can grow our faith in God.
  • We will share some of our answers from the homework assignment on pages 24 and 26.

 

Homework For Next Session:

  • Read page 32, 34-35
  • Write a prayer using the acronym ACTS (example on page 35).
  • Answer questions on page 41
  • Identify Bible story or verse that is important to you.

 

 

March 31st: Happy Easter! No Class

April 7th: Spring Break. No Class

April 14th: Prayer And Scripture Meditation

  • We will talk about prayer and explore helpful ways to pray.
  • We will talk about the Bible and explore helpful ways to read the Bible.
  • We will use some of the questions on pages 37-38, 41.
  • We will learn about the Wesleyan Quadrilateral and why it matters.

 

Homework For Next Session:

  • Read pages 50,52.
  • Answer questions on pages 51, 53.
  • Reflect on a meaningful time of worship. What do you think made it so meaningful to you?
  • Identify a favorite hymn or worship song.

 

April 21st: Worship  

  • We will talk about worship, how to prepare, and what to expect.
  • We will talk about changes that may be needed in our worship services.
  • We will learn about Baptism and Communion in the United Methodist tradition.

 

Homework For Next Session:

  • Read Wesley’s 22-questions on page 62.
  • Briefly reflect on Welsey’s 22-questions on page 63.
  • Read pages 69-70,74-75.
  • Answer the questions on page 75.

April 28th: Service

  • We will learn about the Priesthood of all believers.
  • We will learn about spiritual gifts.
  • We will take an online spiritual gift inventory.
  • We will talk about our membership vows and ways we can serve Jesus.

 

Homework for the next session:

  • Read pages 93-95.
  • Answer the questions on pages 95-96, 105.
  • Write down any questions you have about God, the Bible, faith, and/or the Church.

 

May 5th: Witness

  • We will talk about some of the answers on pages 95-96, 105.
  • We will learn about didn’t helpful ways to share Jesus with others.
  • We will do a walk-through of your confirmation in the sanctuary.

 

Homework for the next session:

  • Reflect on your confirmation class.
  • Pray for the other confirmands.
  • Invite your family and friends to church.

May 12th: No class. Mother’s Day.

 

May 19th: Pentecost/ receiving of new members.

  • Arrive at 9:30am. We will meet in the pastor’s office.
  • Worship begins at 10am in the Sanctuary. You may sit with your family and friends during the service.
  • After the worship service everyone is invited to the Fellowship for a lite reception.
